Hi, friends! How was your weekend?
Marcus and I are in the process of scoping out possible baby shower venues and came across a cozy restaurant with a sweet name, Biscottis.
Biscottis is nestled among other shops and restaurants on a quite neighborhood street. There are ice cream shops, pizza parlors, chocolatiers, small clothing boutiques, and even a toy shop within walking distance of each other. Something for every one.
We were greeted by the hostess and a large display of cakes upon entering.
Yep, I already knew where we’d be ending the evening. 😉
It’s quaint on the inside, which is what we’re looking for in a venue. The interior is made up of exposed brick and stone floors, giving off a coffee house vibe.
The menu is eclectic. They offer everything from simple soups and salads to portobello paninis and pork chop dinners. I went with the roasted salmon salad with crispy shiitake mushrooms, lentils, and marinated tomatoes served with an asiago roll and balsamic vinaigrette.
The salmon was cooked perfectly. I had never had dried shititake mushrooms, either. They were a great touch.
We saved the best for last- dessert!! They had so many flavors of cakes, pies, and cheesecakes to choose from, but we knew exactly what we wanted ever since walking past the case before dinner.
I’m a sucker for cream cheese frosting and had to try their carrot cake.
But I couldn’t eat it all. Got about halfway through before I could feel the sugar running through my veins.
Marcus tried the croissant bread pudding. Yes, croissant bread pudding. Served warm with vanilla bean ice cream.
I’m usually not a fan of bread pudding due to the texture (reminds me too much of French toast), but this one won me over. The use of croissant instead of bread made it a much more buttery dessert with a lighter texture. There wasn’t a single bite leftover.
Overall Biscottis seems like a great place to possibly host our shower. Although I’m a little concerned about the distance our guests will have to travel and the parking situation, the ambiance and food quality more than make up for it.
We still have a few weeks to make up our mind and more places to scope out, but if anything we found a new and wonderful restaurant!
Question: What’s your favorite dessert?
